In the beginning: Dj Screw laid the foundation for the screw movement, taking countrified tunes and slowing them down to a snails pace. Since his passing, many have tried to carry the torch, but none have held down the throne like OG Ron C. Screwing hits for the likes of Slim Thug, Chamillionaire and Lil Flip, he's now looking for Houston's next big thing.

"H-Town always had music," boasts hip-hop legend and Houston icon OG Ron C. "It's just, we were so independent that it didn't matter if you signed a deal. We had big houses and big cars before the deals."
The fertile Houston landscape, home to Mike Jones, Chamillionaire and Slim Thug resembled a modern day oil rush as major labels ran to H-town to sign the local celebrities to major deals. All owed a debt a gratitude to OG Ron C.
OG Ron C born Ronald Coleman is a walking legend in the streets of Houston where he is known for breaking not only the aforementioned artists, but his work with other local artists and dj's.
"Music is in my blood," said Ron C. "Being a lover of music runs in my family."
Breaking out in the ninties after Dj Screw passed, OG Ron C was one of the few dj's who maintained love in the Houston for keeping Screw's legacy alive with his slowed down creations. "If it wasn't for screw, a lot of this that's going on wouldn't be going on. We always have to big up Screw for making it cool to jam screw tapes. I try to always keep my tapes sounding like screw so people will always remember him.
No slouch himself, Ron C was instrumental in helping to break some of the H-Town artists that are big on the national scene now. "A lot of them boys your hear now, they were on my first CD, 'Southern Finest' 'I'm in Love with my Money' by Paul Wall and Chamillioanire, that was on my first album back in 2000"
Since then, he's gone on to help break the music of the likes of The Wrecking Yard and Swishahouse Records. His current post, he's the official Dj's for Chamilliatry, Chamillionaires label, so he keeps his ears to the streets.
"There are a lot of good acts coming up with right now out of Houston. Spark Dawg is big right now, Wrecking Yard is looking real good, so is Chamill's brother, Rasaq. Jokaman, Trae, Z-Ro is back, Kiotti. KB got a song called, "Put it in the air" that's getting spins."
But could Houstons penchant for putting music out on their own stop majors from coming back into the city? Ron C disagrees. In fact, he thinks that more from the inside need to come to H-Town in order for the city to survive. "Right now, there aint no Mike Clarkes," said Ron C about the Swishahouse vice president
"There aint nobody coming in from the industry to guide these boys. There's great music out here and great artists like there are in other cities. But we need someone to come in from the inside who can guide them along. Mike Clarke is the one who got Swishahouse known and that whole movement. Right now, the city needs more Mike Clarkes, and more Og Ron C's someone who can come in and manage them and get their music heard."
